Typical application for WR260
WR260 Specification
As with all Adtec water resistant products WR 260 is designed for usage in light and medium water conditions where
boreholes can be dewatered.  It is characterized by its high water-blocking ability, clean fumes (no sulphur), dark coloration
and presence of a small quantity of microballoons in the formulation.  WR 260 premix can be used with bulk equipment for on
site operations.
Water Resistance
The WR 260 is classified as high water resistance in the Adtec water resistance test, and is generally designed for light and
medium water conditions.  When water conditions are severe or boreholes cannot be properly dewatered before usage, then
more water-resistant explosive products are recommended.  WR 260 generally scores between 110 and 120 and the Adtec
water-resistant test.
WR 260 is a clean-burning product.  Fumes from detonation are similar to those from common anfo (based upon computer
modeling). Other premixes may contain sulphur, which may produce sulphur dioxide as a result of detonation.  Sulphur
dioxide is considered undesirable when blasting takes place underground or near residential areas.
The WR 260 premix is dark in color, similar to other Adtec products.  The dark coloration is an important visual aid, helping to
identify the presence of the water-resistant agents and the evenness of the coating.  Should bridging of the additive occur
during mixing or any other inefficiency, the color of the finished product will change and immediately identify the problem.
Additionally, the coloration agent helps identify “spotty” mixes, which indicates the need to improve the mixing process.
WR 260 is a 6% additive (6% premix and 94% pre-oiled prills).  The ammonium nitrate is first oiled to only 4.75% and mixed
thoroughly.  When the prills are evenly coated with oil, the premix is added and mixed until the prills are evenly coated. (See
